Winter Wonderland! - Amsterdam

Our last days in Amsterdam, boarding a flight to London tomorrow morning at 8.55am and then going to Birmingham for Christmas. Providing we can actually fly into London. Been hearing that the weather is pretty bad over there and flights are being canceled. Hopefully we'll be lucky and get through on a clear morning.

Here in Amsterdam though, its been exhausting! We are knackered!
The last couple days have been full of stuff. Went to the Amsterdam zoo, a canal cruise, the Rijks museum, the Van Gogh museum, the Heineken Brewery, the Ice Bar, Red Light district at night, the royal palace, and more shopping.

The heineken brewery was awesome, its was more of an amusement park than a brewery!
And I am VERY proud to say that Ashlinne, drank her first whole glass of beer!! We've got the photographic evidence to prove it! Soon she'll be guzzling it like the rest of us! ;)

And the ice bar, is literally a bar made of ice. You get a beer in a glass made of ice. No personal photos allowed though :(, they take one and you have to buy it from them, which we did.

Its so cold here that the river has frozen! When we were doing our canal cruise, the boat was actually cracking and churning its way through the river as it was just beginning to freeze, but today, it is completely frozen. I'm not sure if the canal cruises are even operation anymore. Its pretty crazy to see a whole stretches of river frozen in the open air. You should be able to see in the pics the below.

We love you all!

Amsterdam!

We got on a train leaving Vienna at 7:50pm, got to Frankfurt train station at 5:30ish. Had to share a train cabin with another couple, so not a lot of sleep occurred. Left Frankfurt at 8, the train was about half hour late. then we had to switch trains at some random Germany train station, where nobody knew what was going on or where to go next. Finally a train guy gathered us all up and we followed him to another train platform. Eventually got on a train and arrived in Amsterdam at 1:30ish, an hour and 20 minutes late! With little to no sleep..

Found our hostel.. at around 3. Our room is no bigger than the size of queen bed, with as sink and a cupboard! Did some laundry and had dinner, before calling it an early night!

The next day explored some, went to anne frank house, Madam Tussuads wax museum and then got lost in the rain and snow..

Then yesterday! It snowed and snowed and snowed! Heavy snow all day. Went to the sex museum, did some shopping, went to the red light district for a bit and just all round enjoyed the snow, even if we couldn't really see through the snow!

Its cool here. ;)

And then we tried to make a snowman.... its a lot harder than you think!! Ours turned out like a sandcastle...
His name is,  Jefferey the Snowman.

Vienna, day 1 and 2

When we got to Vienna it was snowing, the ground was covered in it! ...It hasn't snowed since :(
There is just old, dirty snow everywhere now. But its still cool!

Yesterday, we checked into our hotel and kinda just explored the city. Lots of cool shopping to be done! Checked out a museum in an old castle and went to the butterfly enclosure.. sadly not as good as we'd hoped, but oh well.
They sell the tastiest sausages on the side of the street for 2.70 euro. YUM!
And they really know how to celebrate Christmas here. Decorations and lights everywhere! And a Christmas market in every plaza. Went to a huge one that night. Busy as. Fighting through people just to walk.

Then today we went to the Vienna zoo. Way better than Adelaide zoo.
And Viennese style schnitzel for dinner.

DANKE!  ...('Thank you', in German)
